When you want to test one’s character, put them in a position of power, influence and give them riches. Most of the time if the fame is not earned, and prosperity is inherited, they will be clouded with pride, arrogance and possess a sense of entitlement often displayed in how they treat others forgetting that we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord.
What would have happened if the king Ahasuerus gave thanks to Adonai for blessing him with the kingdom as he reigned over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces, from India to Ethiopia instead of showing off the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendour of his excellent majesty? Esther 1:1-4. Do you think Vashti’s behaviour would have been the same as displayed in Esther chapter 1?
Proverbs 16:18 NKJV says, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” When God blesses you with the position of prominent and enlarges your territory, always remember it is He who gave you the power to get rich. Therefore, guard against pride! Please read Deuteronomy chapter 8 and remain humbled for “a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favour rather than silver and gold. The rich and the poor have this in common, the LORD is the maker of them all.” Proverbs 22:1-2 NKJV.
