“5 In Shushan the citadel there was a certain Jew whose name was Mordecai the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite. 6 Kish had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives who had been captured with econiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away. 7 And Mordecai had brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was lovely and beautiful. When her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.” Esther 2:5-7 NKJV
Losing someone can be devastating, I can only imagine what it is like to lose parents at a young age. However, one might argue that whether you’re old or young, the loss of a loved one is a heartbreaking event!
We thank God for the gift of adoption and what was done by Mordecai in Esther 2:7 just reminds me of the unconditional love shown by Adonai towards us as captured in Romans 8:14-17. Therefore, let us accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into Christlikeness so that we can enjoy the incorruptible blessings and the adoption into the Kingdom of God.
“14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Romans 8:14-17 NKJV
