In John 14:13-14, Jesus assures us that whatever we ask in His name, He will do it so that our heavenly Father may be glorified in the Son. However, in Mark 10:35-40, we see the sons of Zebedee making a request and Jesus making it clear that their request is not appropriate. While in Mark 10:46-52, the blind Bartimaeus’s request was granted as Jesus healed him. Then the question I have today is how many inappropriate prayers we have made, got frustrated because they were not answered, and sometimes even doubted the perfect love of God towards us?
Scripture 1:
“The Answered Prayer
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:12-14 NKJV
Scripture 2:
“35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
37 They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.”
38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”
39 They said to Him, “We are able.”
So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized; 40 but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.”’ Mark 10:35-40 NKJV
Scripture 3:
“Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”
50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:46-52 NKJV
The day we understand that Jehovah God is our servant and our manipulation does not move Him, then we will walk humbly. In Isaiah chapters 40 and 55, He reminds us that we are absolutely nothing! “8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV. Abba Father, please open up the eyes of our understanding so that we may fathom the mysteries of prayers. Learning from the disciples who asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, I also desire the same this morning because I truly do not know what to pray! Luke 11:1-4 and Matthew 6:5-15 NKJV
#Lord Jesus, have mercy!
#not my will but Your will, Lord be done!
#“33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”
35 “Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him?”
36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-36 NKJV
