Discernment is a gift from God and as beautiful as it is but if this gift is not received by a mature person, then it can cause great harm. While a compassionate being can experience tremendous abuse when their kindness is not accompanied by discernment. Therefore, set up strong boundaries and do not permit anyone to overstep for it is not everyone you help who should be at your approximate!
Have you ever asked yourself why Jesus refused a man in Mark 5:1-20 to follow Him? Instead, Jesus said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” Mark 5:19 NKJV.
It is not everyone you help who should be at your approximate, some people you help today might be your enemies or opponents tomorrow, while others will appreciate loyalty and be your supporting structure tomorrow. Therefore, please pray for the Spirit of discernment and ask God to reveal the true characters of the people around you.
“18 And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. 19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” 20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.” Mark 5:18-20 NKJV
Verse 20, reveals that a man who was demon-possessed showed gratitude and obedience to Jesus as he followed His instruction.
