Be very careful about how you conduct yourself and your dealings, for how you treat others, and that is how your children will be treated. In Genesis chapter 27, a mother (Rebekah) teaches her son to steal and defraud his brother of the blessing to the extent that she invites a curse in her life. Subsequently, a blessing fraud took place, and Jacob took his brother Esau’s blessing! Please read the entire chapter to get the context.
“11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man. 12 Perhaps my father will feel me, and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him; and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.” 13 But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”’ Genesis 27:11-13 NKJV
In Genesis chapter 29, a charlatan is tricked by his own uncle Laban and swapped for his bride Rachel with Leah – EHE! What comes around goes around! What you do to others, so, it will be done to you. Yet the Bible says, “love your neighbour as you love yourself.” Mark 12:31. For we reap what we sow, even though it might be late, but certainly, what we reap will be more than what we sow. Proverbs 6:30-31.
In Genesis chapter 30, Jacob avenges himself through the rods of green poplar to advance his livestock over his uncle and father-in-law. In Genesis chapter 31, Rachel, a favourite wife, stole her father’s idols. The most common denominators that I am picking up from this family are favouritism, lies, envy, and skillful fraud modus operandi. Therefore, be very careful of the door you open for your family, as you might be inviting a generational curse. Oh! Let it not happen with my children and my generation, but may my ethics be the foundation of generational blessings in the name of Jesus! So, how do you conduct yourself when nobody is watching? Can the value of integrity be found in you? May the Lord God the Almighty Jehovah help us to be true!
#there is no small or big integrity, but it’s either 100 or zero!
#what is your scale?
