When I was preparing for June’s mission trips to Mpumalanga, attacks were coming from all around, and the agents of destruction manifested themselves, making me wonder at what point exactly Judas switched his role! How did Jesus keep His peace, knowing that He was fellowshipping with the devil and even appointing him treasurer in His ministry? Since then, I have been sensitive and continue to ponder this question: When did Judas switch his role? This morning, during my devotion, John 6:66-71 gave me closure and helped me understand that certain things must happen. Therefore, we need to pray for God’s grace and hedge of protection as we soldier on in the journey of faith. May His unconditional love towards us be an encouragement for us to love, serve, and worship Him in spirit and in truth.
“66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.” John 6:66-71 NKJV
From these verses, it is clear that Judas was evil right from the beginning when he was appointed. I pray that we will not be the playground and agents of the enemy. Holy Spirit, convict us of sin, righteousness, and judgement to come so that we may live and walk in truth. Above all things, Lord Jesus, please teach us how to love as You have loved us and teach us how to forgive as You have forgiven us. May our fruits be the evidence of grace upon our lives, in Jesus Mighty name I pray.
“You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV
#“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:32 NKJV
#“Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,” Romans 5:20 NKJV #“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 NKJV
