Being grateful is a decision that one makes every day and a choice they choose each time they face real life challenges. Grateful and happy people do not mean they do not experience challenges in life. However, they are realist who pursue optimism over pessimism and being a Christian is a bonus as the joy of the Lord Jesus becomes your strength. Nehemiah 8:10. So, are you an optimist or a pessimist?
I prefer to be surrounded by the optimistic people who are not scared to take risks and laugh at themselves when things do not work out because they understand that they are not perfect. This might sound harsh, but honestly, I do not want to be surrounded by pessimistic folks for their negativity drains me as they fail to understand that each person is unique, and God has prepared their path making their story different from others. Therefore, instead of mocking other people’s journey, please be open-minded and try to learn the motive behind their drive. If you do not understand their world and you have nothing positive to say, please be silent instead of destroying others with hurtful words. If the pessimist has hurt you, please forgive and continue to love them. The Bible tells us that “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:18 NKJV.
It is ok to remove yourself from the environment that does not edify you and that is not pride but self-love for your mental health matters. I pray that we learn to be kind and develop a grateful heart in order to be a blessing to others, not a stumbling block! So, what are you grateful for today?
