In Mark 5:21-43, we learn about Jairus, the synagogue’s ruler, who had a sick daughter. Meaning that regardless of our status or position, we are not exempt from the pressures of life. However, what blows my mind in this passage of scripture is the humility of Jairus as in his predicament, he disregarded his status or being worried about how people would perceive him. Instead, he came and bowed before Jesus and cried for help.
“22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.” Mark 5:22-24 NKJV.
If you have problems and you are still worried about what people will think of you or your position, then be careful that your pride does not block your blessing and the breakthrough. In Psalms 50:15, the Lord God the Almighty invites us to call upon Him in the day of trouble and He promises to deliver us so that we shall glorify Him. As the ruler of the synagogue, I then conclude that Jairus understood this scripture very well and Jesus listened to him.
