Shalom aleikhem beloved!
I pray all is well with you and your loved ones. In the last article, we spoke about the blessing of humility. As we continue with the exposition of Mark chapter 5, I would like us to expand the example of humility analysed in Tuesday’s article and consider the second example. In Mark 5:22, we learn that Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus and fell at His feet because he was in desperate need for his 12-year-old daughter to be healed. Many of us do this when we are in trouble and need Abba Father’s intervention in our lives or situations; we fast, kneel down and pray for it is easy to be humbled when you need help. The opposite is true, no one is interested in helping the proud and arrogant joke! 😊
“22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.” Mark 5:22-24 NKJV
The test of humility is when you have everything in life, or when your prayers have been answered. Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “…you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth,…” meaning that we ought to remain humbled even when we have everything in life, or when our prayers have been answered. Therefore, as we believe God to come through for us and exercise our faith like a woman with an issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34, let us continue to walk in righteousness and humility, knowing that we have been made right with God not by what we have done but by the finish work of the cross.
“32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Mark 5:32-34 NKJV
I pray that the Lord will open up the eyes of our understanding to really see humility as the reflection of our hearts for humility marries submission, while pride is tied to arrogance and disobedience. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists six things that God hates, and a proud look is among them. Therefore, let your pride not be a gateway to downfall and or a hindrance to your breakthrough.
#test your heart and repent from pride or arrogance or both 😊
#walk in humility and embrace humbleness!
